Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s M40 Overseas Cap

(Waffen-SS Schiffchen M40 für Männer der Panzertruppe). A well-preserved Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s M40 overseas cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which are gently sloped toward the front. Visible on the peak is the unmistakable outline of an SS-style German national eagle insignia which has since been lost to time. Directly below the peak, the front of the walls similarly demonstrates the outline of an SS-style Totenkopf insignia which has also been removed from the cap. The interior is fully encompassed by a black cotton/rayon-blended liner, which bears a size mark of “56” in white ink on the right side. Otherwise unmarked, the cap measures approximately 29 cm (l) x 11 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. It demonstrates no evident damage or wear with the exception of the missing insignia, and is in an extremely fine condition.
