Germany, Wehrmacht. An Italy Camouflaged Fallschirmjäger M38 Helmet
(Fallschirmjäger Stahlhelm). A Canadian veteran "bring-back" from the Italy region with traces of heavy camouflage paint; In magnetic stamped sheet steel still bearing traces of the desirable heavy/thickly applied paint, untouched since the war. The helmet retains its three original liner retention bolts, visible from the exterior. The interior comes complete with its original two-piece, tan-coloured leather liner, tightly stitched together at the centre, and stamped with twelve sizeable ventilation holes. The liner is cushioned by seven thick foam pads which sit securely between the liner and steel. The interior also features a brown leather two-piece chinstrap, the left side of which bears a magnetic metal clip, while its opposite number on the right has since been lost. The helmet is unmarked and measures 218 mm (w) x 255 mm (l) x 135 mm (h), other than missing its late war period buckle, this is an untouched example and as found.
