A Luftwaffe Tropical EM/NCO’s Overseas Cap
This is an exceptionally preserved, near mint Luftwaffe Tropen Fliegermütze constructed of a tan “tropical” cotton fabric blend, with fold-down side and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops to the front. The front of the cap features a machine embroidered Luftwaffe eagle patch in grey cotton threads, mounted on a matching tropical rayon/cotton blend backer. Directly beneath is a machine embroidered national tri-colour cockade in black, white, and red cotton threads. Both the eagle and the cockade appear original to the cap and machine-stitched into place. The interior of the cap is fully lined with a cotton/rayon blend fabric, and is marked “Berolina, Berlin, 1942” in black ink (slightly faded from age). The cap measures 270 mm x 120 mm when folded. Overall, this overseas cap is exceptionally preserved, without significant wear marks, or signs of age. Extremely fine condition.
