A Mint 1937 Produced Wehrmacht Heer (Army) Cavalry NCO’s Visor Cap by Gottfried Nolte
This mint top condition Wehrmacht Heer Kavallerie NCo’s visor cap is crafted out of fine quality woolen tricot (Mützentrikot). The piping along the crown of the cap, as well as on the top and bottom edges of the cap band are a bright golden-yellow Wehrmacht Cavalry Waffenfarbe (branch colour). The fabric spanning around the crown is tight, without signs mothing, and without significant signs of wear or age. The cap band is crafted out of fine dark green (Flaschengrün) wool, and spans tightly around the cap, without holes, bumps, or mothing. The chin strap is constructed of thick lacquered leather, with glossy black metal fittings (magnetic), with imitation stitching on the top and bottom edges, and glossy black metal (magnetic) buttons on each side of the cap. The insignia consist of a silvered aluminum Wehrmacht eagle above the cap band, and a silvered aluminum officer’s wreath with a national tri-colour cockade with a red felt core within the cap band. The visor is crafted of glossy black lacquered Vulkanfiber, with a raised molded ridge running along the outer brim. The underside of the visor is lightly textured in a chequered pattern and is painted in a rusty brown colour. The interior of the cap is lined with rusty-brown silk-textured rayon fabric with a sewn-in plastic diamond. The sweatband is constructed of matching rusty-brown coloured leather, and is marked “Gottfried Nolte, Kassel, Fischgasse 18”, “1937” for the production year, “Landeslieferungs Genossenschaft “Ago” für Hessen (51)”, as well as “HB 37” - all stamped with black ink. It is also stamped “56” for sizing behind the plastic diamond. Behind the sweatband is an extremely well preserved cork padding, with the prongs of the wreath poking through. The cap measures 265 mm in diameter at the crown, and 177 mm in diameter at the interior opening. Mint condition, in top condition, with the only flaw being a miniscule partial crack in the vulkanfiber, that is only visible from the underside.
