A Panzer Pioneer Battalion NCO's/Enlisted Man's Side Cap
Constructed with a black wool exterior, with two rising peaks forming a valley between the two, fold down panels with gently sloping, downward scallops to the front and forward sides, sewn in place on the front peak is a machine embroidered white Army (Heer) eagle, illustrating an eagle sitting, its talons gripping a wreath swastika below, a cockade in red, white and black machine embroidery just below the eagle on the skirt, the cockade framed by two rows of angled black and white twist piping indicative of a Panzer Pioneer Battalion, the piping forming an inverted triangle over the cockade, a single silvered metal eyelet along the top edge on either side for ventilation, the inside lined in a black cotton/rayon blend and is unmarked, 115 mm x 280 mm, scattered silvering wear on the eyelets, lightly soiled, near extremely fine.
