Germany, Heer. A Splinter Pattern Camouflage Reversible Winter Hood
(Splintertarn Kopfhaube). A very well-preserved Heer splinter pattern camouflage reversible winter hood, constructed of a multi-piece rayon blend. The exterior is dyed in a classic Wehrmacht splinter pattern consisting of various shades of mottled brown and green, overlaid by an array of green splinters. It is flanked on each side by a grey wool earpiece, allowing for functionality without compromising comfort. The lower portion of the hood fans outward and drapes over the wearer’s neck, providing additional protection from the elements. Two additional flaps emanate from the chin, reinforced with stitched darts and bearing a grey cotton drawstring for closure. A reversible hood, it can be turned inside out to reveal an all-white finish for winter usage. The hood is wholly unmarked and measures 400 mm (w) x 470 mm (h) when folded flat. Minor, age-appropriate material fatigue and soiling is evident, and the hood is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
