What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Heer. A Veterinarian Officer’s Visor Cap by Robert Lübstein

(Heer Schirmmütze). This is an extremely well preserved Heer (Veterinarian) Officer’s visor cap. The upper body is constructed of field-grey wool ringed with pinkish-red “Waffenfarbe” piping at the top and bottom, indicating Veterinarian personnel. The lower body of the hat is composed of smooth forest green wool with an additional ring of pinkish-red piping on the bottom. The body is completed by a black lacquered vulcanfibre visor extending outward in a downward slope. Pinned into the peak of the cap is a silvered aluminum second pattern Heer-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 65 mm (w) x 26 mm (h). Underneath the eagle is a Heer cockade composed of a red mesh centre within two ribbed silvered aluminum rings, in turn ringed by a black metal sunray-style border, inside machine-embroidered silver aluminum bullion wire oak leaves. Above the visor sits two rows of twisted silver aluminum bullion wire, knotted at both ends and fastened around two pebbled silver zink buttons secured into structure of the cap. The interior is fully lined with a field-grey rayon liner, along with a tan-coloured leather sweatband securely stitched across the circumference. The top bears a transparent rhombus moisture guard with manufacturer stamp clearly reading “EREL Berlin” for manufacturer Robert Lübstein and “Sonderklasse” (“Special Class”). A similar “EREL” logo is embossed on the sweatband along with an inscription of “Stirnschutz” (“Forehead Protection”). The cap measures 264 mm (w) x 286 mm (l) x 167 mm (h). Minor mothing and fatigue is evident to the wool exterior and rayon interior, in addition to some soiling of the interior liner, but the cap presents in an otherwise very fine condition.
