Germany, Heer. An Army EM/NCO Field Cap
(Feldmütze). A cap constructed of field-gray wool, with fold down side and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops to the front, with metal eyelets on either sides, the front of the cap features a machine-embroidered, Heer-style eagle patch in brown cotton threads, mounted on matching tan woolen base, and an embroidered, national tri-colour cockade in black, white, and red threads on a green background, both the eagle and the cockade are hand stitched into place, the interior of the cap is fully lined in olive drab rayon, presents a black ink stamp reading “1940 Wien” and the size “56,” measures 28 cm (w) x 11 cm (h) (folded), missing one of the eyelets on the side, lightly worn example, minor soiling on interior, and in overall near extremely fine condition.
