Germany, Heer. An Army Infantry Officer’s Visor Cap by HPC, Named

(Heer Dienstmütze). This is an extremely well-preserved Heer (Army) officer’s visor cap, constructed of smooth field-grey wool with a forest-green doeskin wool cap band. The cap is trimmed with three bands of white piping, with one band at the top and one each at the top and bottom of the cap band, indicating Infantry service. Pinned into the peak of the cap is a Wehrmacht-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, constructed of aluminum and measuring 65 mm (w) x 26 mm (h). The centre of the cap band bears a central tri-colour cockade with a red felt centerpiece, surrounded by a second pattern oak leaf wreath, constructed of aluminum and measuring 65 mm (w) x 43 mm (h). The cap band is flanked by pebbled, silvered, magnetic metal buttons holding in place a decorative chinstrap, itself constructed of multiple rows of twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire, neatly knotted as each end and resting upon the visor. The visor is constructed of vulcanfibre, and presents with a lacquered black obverse and light-brown reverse. The interior bears a 45 mm-thick light-brown leather sweatband, perforated with ventilation hold at the front, and securely held in place by a row of machine stitching. The interior is fully lined with a an off-white and cream-coloured satin liner. Securely stitched into the top of the interior is a transparent rhomboid moisture guard, maker marked “HPC” with inscription “STIRNDRUCKFREI, FRISCHLUFT” (“FOREHEAD PRESSURE FREE, FRESH AIR”), with a handwritten name tag reading “EYMESS 14. I.R.” (14th Infantry Regiment), measuring approximately 250 mm (w) x 280 mm (l) x 170 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
