Germany, Heer. An EM/NCO’s M43 Field Cap
(Heer Einheitsfeldmütze M43). An extremely well-preserved Heer EM/NCO’s M43 field cap, constructed of field-grey wool twill. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped at the front, offering optional neck and ear protection for the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place with dual pebbled magnetic metal buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a field-grey trapezoidal rayon base bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, above a tri-colour cockade. The insignia measures 55 mm (w) x 42 mm (h) and is secured in place with its original factory stitching. Completing the exterior features is a protruding cardboard-reinforced visor set firmly within the structure of the cap. A grey cotton-blended liner fully encompasses the interior. Stamped onto the crown in black ink is a size stamp of “56”, a Reichsbetriebsnummer of “0/0250/2562” for an unidentified Berlin-based manufacturer, and a date of “43”. The cap measures approximately 195 mm (w) x 275 mm (l) x 125 mm (h). Free of evident faults, the cap is in a near mint condition.
