What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Heer. An Infantry Officer’s Crusher Visor Cap

(Heer Schirmmütze). A very well-preserved Heer Infantry officer’s crusher-style visor cap, constructed of field-grey wool with a forest-green wool cap band. Bands of white piping surround both the crown of the cap, as well as the top and bottom of the cap band. Pinned into the peak is an insignia in the form of a silvered zink Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 60 mm (w) x 28 mm (h) and retains two of its three reverse attachment prongs. Stitched into the cap band underneath the eagle is a wreath and cockade, the former constructed of hand-embroidered silver aluminum wire around a zink cockade. The insignia is set on a padded forest-green wool backer and measures 70 mm (w) x 48 mm (h). The cap is flanked on each side by a pebbled magnetic metal button securing a decorative chinstrap, itself constructed of multiple rows of twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire. The chinstrap wrests upon a protruding vulcanfibre visor, the obverse of which is painted black. The interior features a 45 mm-wide brown leather sweatband, and completes with a dark grey rayon liner. The cap is unmarked and measures approximately 215 mm (w) x 260 mm (l) x 165 mm (h). Soiling and material fatigue, partly due to mothing, is evident to the wool features, with age-appropriate material fatigue also evident to the sweatband.
