What's a max bid?

Heer (Army) Infantry NCO/EM Visor Cap

Heer (Army) Infantry NCO/EM Visor Cap - This cap is in typical Heer army green wool with a 42 mm wide forest green band and a traditional high peak with matching white piping along the top edge and flanking either side of the band, indicating the branch to be Infantry. It is decorated with a well-detailed silvered aluminum eagle insignia on the peak and an open silvered aluminum wreath surrounding a tri-colour cockade on the band. The dual-buckled black leather chinstrap, designating the wearer to be an enlisted man, is attached to black lacquered buttons on either side, the strap exhibiting cracking and wear on the right side between the button and buckle. The vulcan visor has a smooth black leather-look upper and is free of crazing. The dark brown leather sweatband shows light soiling and wear from active use, the two ends held together at the rear via the use of a magnetic metal pin, in addition to being maker mark stamped "CARL ISKEN KOLN" and dated "1937" in black ink on the underside on the left side. The inside of the cap is lined in a pumpkin-coloured cotton, the dome formerly brandishing a celluloid shield, which has been lost to time, the cap well-used by the owner thereafter, as evidenced by the sweat staining in the dome where the celluloid shield once resided, along with a large hole behind the cap badge and the exposed cork support strip at the front. The cap was brought back from Germany by an Allied veteran and has his name, "Joe Quigley" and the number "136" in handwritten black ink flanking the size stamping "57" above and below, respectively, measuring 235 mm x 255 mm x 120 mm. The cap exhibits slight discolouration in the white piping and green wool upper, scattered holes on the exterior due to mothing, with a large hole appearing on the left side of the peak, just to the right of the eagle, plus the aforementioned soiling and large hole on the interior, remaining in fine condition.
