Germany, Kriegsmarine. An EM/NCO Garrison Cap
(Bordmütze). A garrison cap (also known as a board cap) constructed of deep, navy blue wool, with fold-down sides and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops towards the front, the centre of the cap features a machine-woven Army-style eagle with outstretched-wings, clutching a wreathed swastika, woven in silver threads on a green cotton backing, directly below is a tri-colour cockade on a navy blue backer, a career insignia for Artillery Mechanics is affixed to the left side, in addition to a pin featuring a lesser version of the Royal Arms of Netherlands, the interior is lined with a black rayon liner, with a stamp of the size “56,” measuring 27.5 cm (w) x 11.5 cm (h) (folded), very clean and no flaws, and in overall extremely fine condition.
