What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Buyer's Premium

All bids are subject to a Buyer's Premium which is in addition to the placed successful bid. The following rate of Buyer's Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each Lot that you purchase:

Twenty-Two Percent (22%) of the Hammer Price

Germany, Kriegsmarine. An EM/NCO’s Overseas Cap, by Willy Sprengpfeil

(Kriegsmarine Schiffchen). A well-preserved Kriegsmarine EM/NCO’s overseas cap, constructed of dark navy blue wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, gently scalloped toward the front. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia constructed of a dark navy blue rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered golden-yellow Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 62 mm (w) x 28 mm (h) overall. Directly underneath the eagle, the panel is stitched with an additional insignia consisting of a dark navy blue rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered tricolour cockade, measuring 30 mm (w) x 30 mm (h). An additional insignia consisting of silvered bakelite tradition or unit badge is stitched onto the left side of the panels, and appears to consist of a clog topped by a sail. The badge measures 22 mm (w) x 26 mm (h) overall. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black rayon linder, with the right side retaining a legible silver maker’s mark of “WILLY SPRENGPFEIL, HAMBURG”, alongside a date of 1942. The cap measures approximately 290 mm (l) x 125 mm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Minor, age-appropriate issues are evident, and include some material fatigue to the exterior wool and insignia with a spot of soiling to the right side of the crown, with additional fatigue of the interior liner which includes a tear along the seam of the left side. The cap is in an overall better than very fine condition.
