What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Luftwaffe. A 1st Fallschirm-Panzer Division Hermann Göring EM/NCO’s Visor Cap

(Schirmmütze für Männer der Fallschirm-Panzer-Division 1. Hermann Göring). An extremely well-preserved 1st Fallschirm-Panzer Division Hermann Göring EM/NCO’s visor cap, constructed of dark grey whipcord wool. It features reinforced side walls fully lined on the exterior with a ribbed black mohair cap band. Both the top and bottom edges of the cap band are trimmed with lengths of white wool piping, while an additional length of identical wool trims the outer edge of the crown. The latter’s interior wire reinforcement has been removed post-manufacture to give the cap a non-regulation, high-peaked “saddle” appearance favoured by wartime personnel. Pinned to the peak is an aluminum insignia consisting of a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 66 mm (w) x 46 mm (h). Directly below the eagle, the centre of the cap band is pinned with an additional one-piece aluminum insignia consisting of a central tricolour cockade set within an oak leaf wreath, in turn flanked by stylized wings. The cap band insignia measures 130 mm (w) x 42 mm (h). It is also flanked on each side by black-painted magnetic metal rivets securing in place a black leatherette chinstrap, itself adjusted with dual functional black-painted magnetic metal buckles. When not in use, the chinstrap rests upon a protruding vulcanfibre visor, finished in a matte black on the obverse and in a dark green on the reverse. The interior of the side walls is fully surrounded by a black leather sweatband measuring 40 mm in width. A multi-piece beige rayon-blended liner fully encompasses the interior, with the crown retaining an intact transparent plastic moisture guard. The former retains a maker marked of “MARKE, BERLIN” for an unconfirmed manufacturer. Otherwise unmarked, the cap measures approximately 225 mm (w) x 250 mm (l) x 170 mm (h). It demonstrates only minor issues consistent with age and use, including the loss of a small piece of the chinstrap near the right rivet, as well as soiling of the interior liner. The cap is in an overall extremely fine condition.
