Germany, Luftwaffe. A Mechanic & Flak Helper Overseas Cap, c. 1937
(Luftwaffe Technicker/Flak-Helfer Schiffchen). Dated 1937. Constructed of black herring bone cotton twill, with fold-down panels featuring gently sloping, downward scallops to the front and sides; the front of the cap is a Luftwaffe eagle, constructed from off-white machine embroidery, on a black wool backer; the interior lined in black cotton blended fabric, dated “1937”, stamped size “55”, maker marked “Willy Sprengpfeil Mützenfabrik, Hamburg 19”, as well as “FL.T.S. Jü” for “Flieger Techniker Schule Jüterbog 1938” (Light Mechanic School Jüterbog) and “Fl. Ausb. Regt. 41” for “Flak Ausbildungs Regiment 41” (Flak Training Regiment 41” in white ink; measuring 275 mm (w) x 105 mm (h); in overall extremely fine condition.
