Germany, Luftwaffe. An EM/NCO Overseas Cap

(Luftwaffe Schiffchen). A well-preserved Luftwaffe EM/NCO’s overseas cap, constructed of dark grey wool. It is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, gently sloping toward the front. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a dark grey wool backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 75 mm (w) x 40 mm (h) overall. Stitched onto the panels directly beneath the eagle is an additional insignia consisting of a machine-embroidered tricolour cockade, measuring 20 mm in total diameter. The interior is fully encompassed by a grey cotton/rayon blended liner. Unmarked, the cap measures 275 mm (l) x 120 mm (h) when folded flat. Some issues consistent with age and field use are evident, and include spots of material fatigue with several small holes possibly indicating of mothing. It is in an overall very fine condition.
