Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Schutzpolizei. A Schutzpolizei Gendarmerie EM/NCO’s Visor Cap, by Albert Dommer

(Schutzpolizei Schirmmütze). An extremely well-preserved Schutzpolizei Gendarmerie EM/NCO’s visor cap, constructed of classic police-style cyan-green wool. The cap features reinforced side walls, with the exterior bearing a smooth dark brown wool cap band. Orange piping fully surrounds the circumference of the crown, as well as the top and bottom edges of the cap band. The cap is flanked on each side by dual ventilation holes, reinforced with magnetic metal eyelets and opening with mesh screens. Pinned onto the peak is a tri-colour cockade constructed of blackened and silvered non-ferrous metal around a red felt centrepiece, measuring 22 mm in total diameter. Underneath the cockade, the cap band is pinned with an aluminum Ordnungspolizei insignia, consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 54 mm (w) x 45 mm (h). Each side of the cap band is flanked by a blackened magnetic metal button, securing in place a black leather chinstrap, itself adjusted with dual blackened magnetic metal buckles. When not in use, the chinstrap rests upon a protruding vulcanfibre visor, the obverse of which presents with a lacquered black leather finish, while the reverse is painted green. The interior features a 45 mm-wide brown leather sweatband, securely held in place by a row of machine stitching. A light brown oil cloth liner fully encompasses the interior, with a transparent plastic rhomboid moisture guard stitched onto the crown. Underneath the moisture guard, the cap retains a partial maker’s mark of “ALBERT DOMMER, STUTTGART”, as well as a size stamp of “55 ½”. The reverse of the sweatband also reveals a stamped manufacture date of “1938”. The cap measures approximately 250 mm (w) x 255 mm (l) x 155 mm (h). Minor issues consistent with age and use are evident, including some material fatigue of the leather elements, as well as deterioration of the moisture guard. The cap is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
