Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Reversible “B” Pattern Oak Leaf Camouflage Hood
(SS Topfhaube). An extremely well-preserved Waffen-SS reversible hood, constructed of multiple pieces of padded cotton-rayon blend, held together by machine stitching. The exterior presents with a “B” pattern oak leaf camouflage motif, printed with a machine-rolled dye, for use in autumn conditions. The opposite side presents in a plain white for use in winter conditions. The hood is flanked on each side by an ear opening, reinforced with machine stitching and covered by grey wool twill, allowing for functionality without compromising comfort. The chin features protruding flaps, with the left flap bearing a reinforced buttonhole and five machine-stitched darts, meeting four machine-stitched darts on the right flap, intended to be tied around the front of the wearer’s neck. The bottom of the hood features a multi-piece cowl, providing neck protection. The hood is unmarked with the exception of an interior stamp of “E6 57”. The hood measures approximately 340 mm (w) x 420 mm (h) when folded flat. Minor soiling is evident and the frontal flaps are missing their drawstring. It is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
