Germany, Third Reich. A Kyffhäuser League Member’s Visor Cap

(Schirmmütze für Mitglieder der Kyffhäuserbund). A well-preserved Kyffhäuser Lague member’s visor cap, constructed of dark navy blue wool. It features reinforced side walls, fully lined on the exterior with a black mohair cap band. The cap band bears a design in the form of alternating Kyffhäuser Monuments and mobile swastiks above ribbing. Pinned onto the peak of the cap is a tri-colour cockade consisting of a magnetic metal frame with a red wool centrepiece. The cap band is flanked on each side by blackened magnetic metal rivets securing in place a decorative chinstrap constructed of multiple rows of twisted and rolled black rayon-blended threading. The chinstrap rests upon a protruding black vulcanfibre visor. A brown leather sweatband measuring 30 mm in width lines the interior of the cap band, while a blue rayon twill liner fully encompasses the interior. The crown bears a silvered Kyffhäuser League mark and logo, while the sweatband rolls down to reveal a secondary mark consisting of a label bearing an inscription of “D.R.K.B. ‘KYFFHÄUSER’ MÜTZE” with a maker’s code of “5”. It measures approximately 240 mm (w) x 260 mm (l) x 125 mm (h). The cap demonstrates only minor material fatigue to the fabric, with some bending and distortion of the side wall reinforcement. It is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
