Germany, Third Reich. An Overseas Mountain Police NCO M43 Cap
An M43 cap constructed of blue-grey wool, featuring a fold down back and side panels which slope downwards and button at the front with two wooden buttons on the left and two threaded reinforced buttoning holes on the right, the front centre of the cap bears an overseas eagle insignia: an eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika superimposed over a larger wreath all in silver/aluminum thread, on a black backer, the right side bears a non-magnetic metal edelweiss flower with gilded stamen, attached with blue-grey thread, the top of the cap is trimmed with silver-aluminum cord piping, the interior of the cap is of a green satin material and is labeled “Bayer. Mutzen Pat. Munchen M/44 0/0850/0387”, and marked “36”, with a grey leatherette sweat guard at the interior front, with a cloth covered forward visor, 180 mm (w) x 120 mm (h), extremely fine.
