Germany. A Kriegsmarine NCO’s Tropical Visor Cap with a Photograph of the Cap being Worn
Produced in Italy and constructed of khaki coloured cotton loosely based on the shape of a traditional high-peak visor cap. The front of the cap is ordained with two German manufactured insignia, consisting of a Kriegsmarine eagle and wreath with cockade. The eagle is constructed of gilt aluminum in the shape of a National eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The wreath is constructed of extremely fine quality twisted, rolled and flat gold aluminum bullion wires in the shape of a traditional wreath, with a metal cockade in the centre, all placed onto a dark blue wool backer. The cap has a visor, constructed of stiff cardboard, with a khaki coloured liner on both sides, along with a faux leather chinstrap that sits directly above it, attached to either side of the cap via gilt metal (non-magnetic) button. The interior of the cap is unlined, with a brown faux leather headband. It measures 242 mm (w) x 182 mm (h). It is accompanied by a black-and-white photograph depicting a group of Kriegsmarine Officers and NCO’s. The individual on the far left of the photograph is wearing the same cap. It measures 128 mm (w) x 87 mm (h). A worn example with visible wear to the head band, but in otherwise better than very fine condition.
