Germany, Kriegsmarine. An EM/NCO’s Summer Uniform Overseas Cap, by Holz & Binkowski
(Kriegsmarine Sommer Schiffchen). A Kriegsmarine EM/NCO’s summer uniform overseas cap, constructed of white cotton twill. It is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls with gentle scalloping at the front. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a white cotton base bearing a machine-embroidered light blue Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 60 mm (w) x 28 mm (h) overall. Underneath the eagle, the cap features a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade on a white cotton backer, measuring 35 mm (w) x 35 mm (h). A light white cotton twill liner fully encompasses the interior of the cap, with a black ink maker’s mark of “HOLZ & BINKOWSKI” stamped onto the right side. A size stamp of “57” is also clearly visible just underneath the maker’s mark. The cap measures approximately 275 mm (l) x 130 mm (h) when folded flat. Consistent soiling is evident to the exterior, and is particularly visible to the left side, but the cap is in an otherwise better than very fine condition.
