A 1943 Dated National Socialist Motor Corps Visor Cap
(Nationalsocialistisches Kraftfahr-Korps = NSKK): This cap is in a coarse blackish-green wool with a 48 mm olive green wool band and a traditional high peak, with matching black piping along the top edge and flanking either side of the band. It is decorated with a large NSKKinsignia on the peak in silver bullion wire and black embroidery, on a blackish-green wool base, plus an open-ended wreath of oak leaves and acorns in silvered aluminum on the band below, surrounding a tri-colour cockade on the band, the cockade in silvered aluminum with a black painted frame and a red felt centre. The black smooth finished patent leather chin strap rests upon the visor, composed of three pieces and joined together via two magnetic metal buckles, the end pieces attached to black finished magnetic metal buttons on either side. The vulcanfibre visor has a smooth black patent leather-look upper and has a butterscotch-coloured synthetic underside. The sweatband is leather and is finished in light tan with a high-relief pebbled texture, perforated along the front edge with five tiny rows of forty ventilation holes each, the ends sewn together at the rear. The inside of the cap is lined in a greenish-gold coloured rayon, with the dome brandishing a diamond-shaped celluloid moisture shield, stamped in black ink "ÜBERNOMMEN BW-NSKK" above "KRAKAU-OST" (East Krakow), the two inscriptions separated by a rule, date stamped "1943" inside a rectangular box and size stamped "57", with light soiling evident on the lining under the moisture shield, the cap measuring 230 mm x 270 mm x 160 mm in height overall.
