A Pre-Second War Reichsarbeitsdienst Feldmütze Overseas Cap
A textbook example for a pre-war manufacture RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst/Reich Labour Service) field cap; constructed of olive-green wool and contrasting brown stitching along the side panels. On each side, the cap features small brown air vents. The front center of the field cap features a single insignia with a machine woven logo of the RAD; a white pointed spade with red bordering, and a back swastika in the center, with outward facing wheat stalks at a 45 degree angle, with a olive-green coloured threaded background on a olive-green coloured wool backer. The insignia is original to the cap and appears to be hand stitched to the cap. The interior of the Mütze is lined with an off-white/champagne coloured cotton, without stamps or other maker marks. The cap measures 275 mm x 108 mm (folded). Very clean and complete example without any major flaws on the outside, with some black staining on the inside and some rust spots on the cotton liner from age. Overall better than very fine condition.
