A Second War Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DKR) EM/NCO’s Overseas Cap
This is an extremely well preserved German Red Cross/Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK) Feldmütze constructed of field-grey wool, with fold-down side and back panels with semi-aggressively sloping downward scallops to the front. The front of the cap features a machine embroidered national tri-colour cockade in black, white, and red cotton threads, as well as a white double-brimmed machine embroidered triangular soutache directly above the cockade. On the left side of the cap is a DRK insignia, constructed of black and red embroidery, on a white rayon backer, and a cotton embroidered border. Each side of the cap also features a black-painted air-vent rivets. The interior of the cap is fully lined with a blueish/grey cotton/rayon blend fabric, and is marked “55” in black ink. The cap measures 265 mm x 110 mm when folded. Overall, this overseas cap is extremely well preserved, and does not show any significant signs of wear or age on the outside. The interior liner, however, is slightly discoloured from age and sweat. Overall, near extremely fine condition.
