A Second War Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DKR) Officer’s Overseas Cap
This is an extremely well preserved German Red Cross/Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK) Feldmütze constructed of field-grey wool, with fold-down side and back panels with semi-aggressively sloping downward scallops to the front. The front of the cap features a Bullion machine made national tri-colour cockade in black, white, and red, as well as aluminum bullion piping along the scalloped sections on the front, and along the crown of the cap. On the left side of the cap is a DRK insignia, constructed of black and red embroidery, on a white rayon backer, and a cotton embroidered border. Each side of the cap also features a black-painted air-vent rivets. The interior of the cap is fully lined with a light brown cotton/rayon blend fabric, and is marked “54” in black ink (slightly faded). A grey faux-leather sweatband covers the front 1/3 of the cap. The cap measures 265 mm x 110 mm when folded. Overall, this overseas cap is extremely well preserved, with only minor signs of age and wear. The cockade on the front of the cap has started to unravel on one spot, and the sweatband on the interior of the cap has cracked in multiple places; likely from folding/storage. Overall, near extremely fine condition.
