An HJ Winter Field Cap by Peter Kupper
The exterior of this cap is fabricated from black wool, with a fold down panel that is held up via a strap that joins the two ends together and rests upon the visor, the strap with a buckle and two holes with eyelets for length adjustment, plus slider, a machine embroidered Hitler Youth insignia in red, white and black embroidery sewn in place on the front, with stiff protruding visor, the underside of which is also covered in black wool. Buckle is marked on reverse RZM M5/117. The interior is lined in black rayon, with a manufacturer's label printed in brown ink on white cotton and sewn in place on the right side, the label marked "Mütze für HJ-DJ" (Cap for Hitler Jugend-Deutsches Jungvolk), marked with the RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei) insignia, marked "Hersteller:" (Manufacturer), number stamped "1073" representing Peter Kupper, marked "Reichszeugmeisterei der NSDAP." and numbered "No 48677", with the size stamped "54". The cap measures 170 mm x 240 mm x 80 mm, minor nips in the fabric on the exterior, wear evident along the edge of the side panel on the left side at the front, the visor with a slight fold in the centre of its stiffener, the stitching intact. Extremely fine.
