Germany. A NSKOV Veteran’s Organization Leader’s Cap
Constructed of fine quality dark blue wool, with a traditional high peak crown, featuring dual air vents on the left and right sides of the cap. The cap band is constructed of black woven strands with an oak leaf pattern running along the entirety of the band. The insignia of the cap consists of a NSKOV (Nationalsozialistische Kriegsopferversorgung/National Socialist War Victim’s Care) eagle, constructed of silvered bronze with black and red paint, and a tri-colour metal cockade. The visor is crafted of vulkanfiber, with a leather trimmed ridge along the brim. It is lacquered with a glossy black finish on both sides, and remains firmly attached to the front of the cap. The chin cord consists of dark green twisted fabric, with two sliders for size adjustment, and is attached to both sides of the cap via a black button. The interior of the cap is lined with a light-orange fabric liner, with the celluloid maker’s diamond still stitched in place, but with the printed embossing missing due to age and wear. Towards the edge of the cap is also a light brown faux leather sweatband. The cap measures 255 mm (w) x 260 mm x 143 mm (h). A gently worn example, in overall near extremely fine condition.
