Germany, RMBO. A State Ministry for the Occupied Eastern Territories Field Cap and I.D. Tag
(Reichsministerium für die Besetzten Ortsgebiete-Einheitsfeldmütze und Erkennungsmarke). The field cap constructed of olive green wool, with gently sloping side panels towards a scalloped front, with gray cotton piping along the crown of the piping, denoting Rosenberg Division. The front of the cap itself consists of two flaps that are secured via a single aluminum button that is decorated by an eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. Directly above the chin straps is a single machine embroidered RMBO cap eagle, consisting of gray machine embroidery on an olive green wool backer that is stitched to the cap via light brown thread. The cap also features a visor extending outwards from the front of the cap, constructed of matching tan cotton twill, with an internal cardboard support. The interior is lined in matching olive green cotton twill coloured fabric, marked “58 ½” and with an unknown maker stamp. Towards the front of the cap is also a brown faux leather (leatherette) sweatband. It measures 275 mm (w) x 185 mm (h), and is in overall mint condition. The identification tag is constructed of silvered zink, and is stamped “134 E.-Stab Rosenberg” on both sides of the triple slotted disc, with three drill holes and suspended from a twisted cotton string. It measures 69 mm (w) x 49 mm (h). The set in overall near mint condition.
