An Austrian M43 Style Gendarmerie Cap by Litto - Mütze of Vienna

This is a well preserved Austrian Gendarmerie/Police cap in the style of the well-known M43 cap, constructed of green wool, with fold-down side and back panels with downward scallops to the front. The front of the cap features a German Police cap eagle in aluminum with a tri-colour cockade with a well preserved and very bright red wool centre. Towards the front, beneath the police insignia are two metal (magnetic) buttons that serve to hold the two ends of the folding panels in place. The visor features a cardboard core that is very fatigued. The crown of the cap exhibits a aluminum/silver braid along the outside edge. The interior is lined with light green silk and features a manufacturer's diamond with “Litto - Mütze embossed in grey lettering. The sweatband is constructed of brown faux leather and spans around the entire interior of the cap. The Gendarmerie cap measures 324 mm x 63 mm (folded) and is in near extremely fine condition with a fatigued cardboard visor core (likely from storage) and heavy cracking and some ripping of the sweatband.
