Germany, Feuerschutzpolizei. An EM/NCO’s Single-Button M43 Cap
(Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Männer der Feuerschutzpolizei). An extremely well-preserved Feuerschutzpolizei EM/NCO’s single-button M43 cap, constructed of dark navy blue wool twill. It is fully surrounded by a single-piece decorative fold-down side panel, gently scalloped at the front, with a polished magnetic metal button affixed to the front. The reverse of the button is stamped with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M5/65” for Gebrüder Wegerhoff, Lüdenscheid. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a dark navy blue rayon hexagon, bearing a machine-embroidered carmine Ordnungspolizei insignia, in turn topped by a tricolour cockade. The insignia measures 34 mm (w) x 52 mm (h). Completing the exterior features is a cardboard-reinforced protruding visor which remains fully intact and free of any cracking or bending. A black cotton liner fully encompasses the interior, with the crown bearing a stamped white manufacture date of “1944”, a Reichsbetriebsnummer of “0/0454/0941” for an unidentified manufacturer, and a size mark of “57”. The cap measures approximately 195 mm (w) x 245 mm (l) x 115 mm (h). Presenting free of evident issues, it is in an overall extremely fine condition.
