An NSDAP Auslands-Organisation Leader's Visor; Kairo
District Management (Gauleitung) Visor Cap: This fine quality cap has three rows of ruby red piping, with the body of the cap fabricated from a tan brown wool gabardine, featuring the classic high peak and rounded saddle-shaped sides. The band around its circumference is in a mid-tone brown velvet, fronted by a silvered cockade, the outer edge of which is trimmed in red enamels with a black swastika in the centre, the cockade framed by a gilt metal wreath of oak leaves, the NSDAP eagle insignia on the crown above having been lost to time, but the two holes for the prongs and the outline of the insignia remain. The vulcanfibre visor is finished in chocolate brown, with a gold-coloured embroidered rayon cord above, in two rows, knotted in the appropriate-style on the sides and held in position via pebbled gilt posts on both sides, the visor itself exhibiting a patch of surface wear to the right of centre. The underside of the visor is also finished in chocolate brown. The sweatband is leather and is finished in chocolate brown, perforated along the front edge with five tiny rows of forty ventilation holes each, the ends tied together by a chocolate brown ribbon and finished in a bow-tie. The dome itself has an olive green rayon liner, with a clear diamond-shaped celluloid moisture shield, stamped in gold-coloured ink "AO" inside a double-ruled diamond-shaped frame above "Kairo" on the dome's lining under the shield, the cap measuring 250 mm x 280 mm x 160 mm in height. It exhibits one small hole on the top and one at the rear on the exterior, along with gilt wear on the wreath and the aforementioned missing cap eagle and patch of surface wear on the visor. Better than very fine. (C:100)
