Gemany, Waffen-SS. An EM/NCO’s Visor Cap
(Waffen-SS Schirmmütze). This is an extremely well-preserved Waffen-SS EM/NCO’s visor cap, constructed of a smooth field-grey wool exterior with a black wool cap band. Three bands of white Waffenfarbe piping ring the cap, with a single band at the top and one each at the top and bottom of the cap band, indicating infantry. Pinned into the peak of the cap is an insignia in the form of a SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, constructed of zink and measuring 70 mm (w) x 33 mm (h). Pinned into the cap band underneath the eagle is a SS-style Totenkopf, constructed of zink and measuring 32 mm (w) x 30 mm (h). The cap is flanked by two blackened magnetic metal screws holding in place a black leather chinstrap, with two adjustable blackened magnetic metal buckles, that rests upon the visor when not in use. The visor itself is constructed of black vulcanfibre and set securely into the body of the cap. The interior features a 35 mm-wide brown leather sweatband neatly held in place by a row of machine stitching. The interior features a complete, off-white rayon twill liner with a rhomboid, transparent moisture guard at the top. The cap is unmarked and measures 232 mm (w) x 275 mm (l) x 170 mm (h). There is minor fatigue to the exterior wool and soiling of the interior liner, but the cap is in an otherwise extremely fine condition.
