What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, SS. An Allgemeine-SS NCO’s Visor Cap

(SS Dienstmütze). II Pattern. The visor cap is constructed of black wool with white piping along the top and flanking edges. A silvered bronze eagle holding a wreathed black swastika decorates the visor’s peak, and on the band below rests a first pattern silvered tombak jawless skull. A two-piece black leather chinstrap rests upon the visor and houses magnetic length adjustment buckles on either side, with a central loop below the skulls, wrapping around black-finished magnetic buttons on either side. The visor is constructed of black Vulkanfiber, giving it a leather-look. The underside of the visor is synthetic, cross-hatched, and finished in a deep tan, stamped in black ink with the SS runes surrounded by the letters “R Z M.” The tan-coloured leather sweatband is perforated along the front edge with five tiny rows of ventilation holes, the ends meet at the rear and are sewn together with thread. Over the sweatband is an illegible name handwritten in ink, possibly saying “Olm.” The sidewalls of the cap are lined in champagne-coloured rayon, the dome lined in a rust-coloured synthetic, moisture-resistant fabric, and brandishing a diamond-shaped celluloid moisture shield, stamped in gold-coloured ink with a large SS runes inside a circle. The manufacturer’s label is glued to the underside at the right rear, the label printed in black ink with a large RZM on the right side, marked “TUCHMÜTZE FÜR SS” (“SS CLOTH CAP”), “Hersteller" (Manufacturer), the manufacturer's number stamp beside faded, inscribed "Gesetz vom 20.12. 1934 / Uniformteile müssen sichtbar das Schutzzeichen der RZM der NSDAP. Bekanntmachung vom 16. 1. 1935" (Law of 20.12. 1934 / Uniform parts must be visible with the protection mark of the RZM of the NSDAP. Order of 16 January 1935) above "Reichszeugmeisterei der NSDAP. Nr. A" and number stamped "131614,” the cap measuring 247 mm (w) x 260 mm (l) x 153 mm (h). The visor cap exhibits black paint chipping on the swastika and silver wear on the skull. It is clean and free of staining and mothing, and is in overall extremely fine condition.
