Anhalt, Duchy. A Cased Friedrich Cross
(Friedrich-Kreuz 1914). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a central monogram of Friedrich II, the six o’clock arm with a date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the centerpiece surrounded by an oak leaf, the reverse with a central inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE” (“FOR MERIT IN WAR”), unmarked, measuring 37.35 mm (w) x 42.17 mm (h), weighing 13.5 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of heavy card stock with a faux black leather exterior, the interior with a padded blue satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a depressed black velvet medal bed, opening with a functional bronze snap button and functional magnetic metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 55 mm (w) x 85 mm (w) x 22 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
