Germany, Imperial. A 1914-1918 Baden Field Cross of Honour
A “Badisches Feld-Ehrenkreuz 1914-1918”; a maltese cross constructed of silvered bronze, with silvered crossed swords between the arms; the obverse with a central circular medallion on an eight-pointed sun-ray star, with a silvered centre applique featuring the coat of arms of Baden within a red enameled ring inscribed “Für Badens Ehre” (For Baden’s Honour); the reverse with a silvered oak leaves on the upper and lower arms, with the left and right arms dated “1914” and “1918”, with a silvered central applique with a Stahlhelm superimposed in the centre; measuring 40.41 mm x 40.19 mm; weighing 19.0 grams; a worn example; in better than fine condition.
