(Silberne Verdienstmedaille Friedrich II). Instituted 1907 by Grand Duke Friedrich II. (1908-1918 issue). Constructed of feinzink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a leftward-facing profile of Grand Duke Friedrich II, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST”, within an oak leaf wreath, the obverse maker marked “R.M.” for Rudolf Mayer, Pforzheim, measuring 38.38 mm in diameter, weighing 19.8 grams, in better than very fine condition.
