Orden vom Zähringer Löwen. Instituted in 1812. Fabricated from silk, incorporating a decorative moiré pattern, with a wide green field in the centre, flanked by deep yellow stripes on either side, with stripes in green along the side edges, large bow-tie at the bottom end, measuring 102 mm wide x 1,030 mm in length, vibrant colours, intact stitching, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Zähringer Lion was instituted on December 26, 1812 by Karl, Grand Duke of Baden, in memory of the Dukes of Zähringen from whom he was descended. It was issued in five classes: Grand Cross, Commander First Class, Commander Second Class, Knight First Class and Knight Second Class.
