Baden. A 1914-1918 Issue Field Cross of Honnour
An example of a fine quality manufacture Field Cross of Honour (Feld-Ehrenkreuz); a Maltese cross in bronze gilt and blue enamels, with crossed swords between the arms of the cross; the obverse with a central medallion on an eight-pointed gilded star depicting the crowned Coat of Arms of Baden in red and yellow enamels within a red ring of enamels inscribed with “Für Badens Ehre” (For the Honour of Baden) in gilt lettering; the reverse with a gilt medallion depicting a leftward facing German Stahlhelm, circumscribed “Badisches Feld-Ehrenkreuz” in capital letters; on a dual-loop suspension from its correct replacement ribbon; measuring 37.60 mm (w) 37.91 mm (h); weighing 13.4 grams; in overall near mint condition.
