Baden, Grand Duchy. A Field Cross of Honour 1914-1918
(Badisches Feld-Ehrenkreuz). Instituted in 1920 by the Baden War Veterans’ Association. A gilded bronze Maltese cross with blue-enamelled arms, with crossed swords between the arms, the obverse centre presents a circular medallion on an eight-pointed graduated rayed gilded star, the centre circle with the yellow and red crowned arms of Baden within a red enamelled ring inscribed FÜR-BADENS-EHRE (FOR BADEN’S HONOUR), the reverse centre presents a central medallion imposed with a helmet circumscribed BADISCHES FELD-EHRENKREUZ, the cross arms bear oak leaves and the dates 1914 and 1918, measuring 37.75 mm (w) x 38.10 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original ribbon, and in extremely fine condition.
