Bavaria, Kingdom. An 1848 Veteran’s Cross for Participants of the 1790-1812 Campaigns

(Veteranendenkzeichen für die Feldzüge 1790-1812). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension, obverse presents with central medallion depicting a Bavarian lion rampant within an oak wreath with an inscription of “DEN VETERANEN DES BAYER. HEERES” (“To the Veterans of the Bavarian Army”), reverse bears central medallion depicting Bavarian flag and an inscription of “MAX II. KÖNIG VON BAYERN” (“Max II King of Bavaria”), measuring 40 mm (h) x 36 mm (w), in very fine condition.
