(Militärverdienstkreuz des Bayerischen Militärverdienstorden III. Klasse). Instituted on 19 July 1866. A Maltese cross constructed of copper plated bronze, the obverse with a central medallion bearing the crowned cipher of King Ludwig II within a border in the form of a buckled belt inscribed with lettering reading Merenti (Latin - Merit), the reverse with a central medallion bearing a crowned Bavarian lion within a border in the form of a buckled belt with numbers reading 1866, suspended from a structure composed of arabesques with crossed swords, accompanied by its period original ribbon, measuring 41.80 mm (w) x 49.77 mm (h), weighing 18.3 grams, accompanied by its case of issue, constructed of heavy cardstock, with a light blue faux leather (leatherette) exterior, with a lined interior lid, a recessed medal bed, an intact fabric hinge cover, a functional clasp closure, and a functional exterior metal hinge, measuring 60 mm (w) x 88 mm (l) x 16 mm (h), and in overall near very fine condition.
