Bavaria, Kingdom. Three Bavarian Medals &Awards
(Deutsche Medaillen). A grouping of Bavarian medals, including two 1866 Bavarian Campaign War Crosses. The first, constructed of bronze, the obverse with a central medallion depicting a rampant lion within an oak wreath, the reverse dated “1866” within an oak wreath, on loop for suspension, from a non-magnetic medal bar with period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 36 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), in very fine condition. The second item is a variant of the 1866 Campaign Cross, also constructed of bronze, measuring 31 mm (w) x 31 mm (h), suspended on loop with period original medal, good condition. The third medal is an 1848 issue Bavarian Veteran’s Cross for Participants of the 1790-1812 Conflicts (Veteranendenkzeichen für die Feldzüge 1790-1812) constructed of a bronze cross, the obverse with a Bavarian lion in the centre, inscribed with “DEN VETERANEN DES BAYER HEERES” on all four arms of the cross, the reverse inscribed “MAX II KÖNIG VON BAYER” on all four arms, suspending from a loop, with period original ribbon in poor condition, measuring 35 mm (w) x 35 mm (h), and in extremely fine condition.
