Bavaria, Kingdom. A Military Long Service and Military Merit Medal Bar
(Ordensschnalle). A Bavarian medal bar, including a Military Merit Cross, III Class with Swords and Crown (Militär-Verdienstkreuz), a Maltese Cross constructed of bronze, with swords crossed above the upper arm, the obverse central medallion presents the cipher for King Ludwig III, circumscribed by the inscription MERENTI (MERIT), the reverse bears the Bavarian crowned lion circumscribed by a buckled belt, dated 1866, measuring 43.43 mm (w) x 66.44 mm (h - inclusive of imperial crown), on loop for suspension from original wartime ribbon, and in overall very fine condition. A 1914 Iron Cross, II Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1914 2. Klasse), a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border, the obverse with a raised central W, with the re-institution date 1914 in raised numbering on the lower arm, and the royal crown on the upper arm, the reverse centre with a branch of three oak leaves below the crowned initials FW, with the original institution date 1813 in raised numbering on the lower arm, maker marked on loop with initials LV for an unknown maker, measuring 43.52 mm (w) x 47.00 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original ribbon, and in very fine condition. A Military Long Service Medal, III Class (Militär Dienstauszeichnungen), constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse presenting the Military Long Service Cross with the words TREUE DIENSTE BEI DER FAHNE between the arms, the reverse presents the Roman numeral IV inside a shield surrounded by an oak leaf wreath, circumscribed by the inscription DIENSTAUSZEICHNUNG III.KLASSE, measuring 33.03 mm in diameter, and in good condition.
