Constructed of silver, the obverse with a raised rightward-facing profile of King Ludwig II, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a finely-detailed depiction of Pegasus with a female rider, circumscribed by an inscription of “EHRENMÜNZE DER KÖNIGL. BAYER. ACADEMIE DER BILDENDEN KÜNSTE” (“HONOUR MEDAL OF THE KINGDOM OF BAVARIA ACADEMY OF VISUAL ARTS”), the reverse with a designer’s mark of “A. STANGER FEC.”, the edge stamped with a recipient’s name of “JULIUS RITTER VON PAYER” and a daet of “1883”, measuring 55.97 mm in diameter, weighing 99.0 grams, in extremely fine condition.
