Bavaria, Kingdom. A St. Anna Order in Gold, Cross for München
(St. Anna Orden). Instituted on 19 September 1783. (1783-1918 Issue). A Gold cross with white enameled arms, the obverse with a central white enameled medallion bearing a Gold figure of the Immaculata, with the arms of the cross inscribed Sub Tuum Praesidium (Latin - Under the Protection); the reverse with a similar white enameled medallion bearing a Gold figure of the Bishop St. Benno, with the arms of the cross inscribed Patronus Noster (Latin - Our Holy Protector, Maria Anna), on a double loop for suspension from its period original ladies ribbon, measuring 28.09 mm (w) x 31.92 mm (h), and in overall near very fine condition.
