1837-1918 Issue. (Bruststern zum Großkreuz). A finely made star in typical early French style, consisting of a multiple smooth and scaled rays, a Gold four armed cross with pebbled surfaces with ornate silver button bordering affixed by four screwposts, centre applique in blue enamel with “Quis ut Deuss” (Latin - Who [is] like God?) as well as each of the arms of the cross featuring a letter, to form the acronym “PFFP” for “Principi Fidelis Favere Patria” (Latin - Faithful to the Prince, serving the Fatherland), reverse in gilt with Gold pin assembly, measuring 88 mm (w) x 89 mm (h), note that lengthy Gold pin extends past the 6 o'clock arm, unmarked however exhibiting the stylistic characteristics of French manufacture, toned, extremely fine.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
