A cross pattee constructed of darkened bronze; the obverse inscribed “EA” for “Ernst August”, with a raised royal crown on the12 o’clock arm and dated “1914” on the 6 o’clock arm, the reverse inscribed “FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE” (For Merit at War), measuring 30.21 mm (w) x 34.46 mm (h), with loop for suspension, very fine.
