Germany, Imperial. A Hamburg Hanseatic Cross
(Hanseatenkreuz). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with red enameled arms, with a central red enamelled medallion bearing a silvered Hamburg coat of arms, the reverse with a central inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM KRIEGE 1914” (“FOR MERIT IN WAR 1914”), unmarked, measuring 40.24 mm (w) x 43.97 mm (h), weighing 18.2 grams in near extremely fine condition.
